Ember's Tale
A game where you play as a dragon named Ember, who grows from eating gems. The side-scrolling gameplay shows how they must grow to escape the mine they hatched in.
Level Design
One of my roles for this project was the level design and was the first time I worked on a side-scroller. The aim was to make the main progress of the map to vertical, giving the impression of moving out of a mine.
Asset Creation
Using Autodesk Maya I created all of the 3D assets within the game. The idea was to create a light-hearted cartoonish style to work with the 2D characters. I was also responsible for creating the prefabs for the objects I created so they can easily be updated and simply placed in the scene.
Particle Effects
I was responsible for the creation of all of the particle effects for the game. This was done using a combination of Unity's particle systems and Adobe Photoshop. The effects were varied and multi-layered, from flames to Collectables. Sadly, the majority of the effects were not included in the end game build due to time restrictions.
